Trigger Point therapy – how does it help pain?

Trigger points used in massage therapy.
Common Trigger POints

Trigger point therapy directly targets pain's source

Trigger Point therapy uses applied pressure to release centralized points of tension and pain. It is also called Deep Tissue therapy,

A Trigger Point usually results from an injury or muscle overuse. The client may experience them as tiny knots in a muscle that don't release. They are known to cause headaches, neck and jaw pain, low back pain, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Using contact with these pressure points, a Body Benefits therapist addresses areas of tension, chronically troubled areas with toxins, and trauma from connective tissue. The therapist may end up using the heels of their hands, forearms or elbows to get the pressure they need to work into the deepest layers of muscle tissue in some parts of the body, such as deep hip rotators.
